Start Routine / End Routine / Expert Routine - which one to use?
Hi,
I have a flat file datasource which I need to add an additional column to as it doesnt contain certain data. This will be based on the file name. for example, if the file name contains USA and then column should contain USA.
The options I have is to
1. Amend the file in the process chain via ABAP to add the column
2. add a start routine to the transformation - i dont think this is an option as the column does not exist in source so cant do a start routine.
3. add a end routine to the transformation to update the value OR use a routine on the actual mapping in the transformation (if no source mapping included it still lets me add a routine. Which option would be best - would the end routine only be called once? if I did the routine in the actual transformation would it go an check the file name for each record which would be an unnecessary overhead?

BEx Query based on physically partitioned objects
Hi,
I have a BEx Query which is currently based on a Multiprovider. The multiprovider has several cubes which are split by Calendar Year (0CALYEAR) - so there is data for each year in each cube.
My Understanding is if I have a variable against 0CALYEAR then the BEx query should only extract data against the appropriate cube. Is there a way i can verify this is happening when a BEx query is executed in RSRT?

BEx Query on SPO vs Multiprovider
Hi,
I have a SPO which partitions data via Calendar Year. The plan is as time goes by i will add extra partitions for the other years and the process chain which is automatically created I would amend to not include years that data would no longer be created for.
Question i have is should i be creating the BEx Query on a multiprovider which uses the generated partitions OR should i be creating the BEx query on the SPO?
At the moment I am only using the SPO as a way to automatically create the partitions.

PSA Requests not getting deleted after upgrade to 7.3
Hi ,
We recently migrated to BW.7.3 environment. Flows are in 3.5.After the upgrade PSA request are not getting deleted for export datasources(Generated Datasources Starts with 8) .I checked the below two posts but no use.

Copy Hierarchy - Missing Node Text in German
Hi,
I logged in to the system in EN language and I copied a hierarchy in RSA1 t-code. The hierarchy is copied completely and node text are available.
But when i log in to the system in DE language, the node text of the hierarchy is missing. But in the original hierarchy, node text is maintained in both English and German.
Please let me know how to copy the hierarchy which will completely including German text of Node. Thanks

Dump while executing DTP
Hi Gurus, I am getting a dump while executing a DTP which is ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY and to fix the error ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY.
For this I have run the program - RSAR_RSISOSMAP_REPAIR in repair mode, but of no use.
I am getting the following error when I try to run the program, its not rectifying the problem.
These are the 2 entries for the ODS...
Besides I have checked the following entries in SE38 text elements...all are maintained...
001 No incorrect entries found.
002 No active entries found.
003 TSPREFIX for
004 Not found.
005 Changed.
006 Not
007 Errors during analysis
008 Activate the transfer rules
009 - Update not possible.
Also maintained ---- Text elements->Selection texts):REPAIR repair mode
But still no use. Pl advice....

Which one is better-Repartition of the cube based on 0CLAMONTH/0FISCPERIOD or Symantec Partition?
Hi Team,
We have some infocubes which are not partitioned yet in the production system which are having more than 6 years of data.(No plan for archiving now as all data required for reporting)
We wanted to partition the infocube now. Now we are going to upgrade our system to 7.4 version.
Which one better for loading and reporting performance when we consider Repartition of the cube based on 0CLAMONTH/0FISCPERIOD or Symantec Partition?

let say user enter 2014 .05. we need to get the 2014.01.2014,02,2014.03,2014,04 + current week 2014.05.
in the same way i need to get previous year same weeks how to achieve this.

Technical content - get historic of statistics
Hello experts,
I am currently triyng to create some reports on the technical content to get the level of use of our reports.
I am using the cube 0TCT_C01 (OLAP statistics aggregated) which is loaded by the datasource 0TCT_DS01.
My issue is the following : when I initialize the cube, I only get the last 30 days (or a little bit more).
I would need the last two years. I think that it could be possible because the statistics had been activated a long time ago.
Do you know any way to get the historic ?

Extracting of Date - DATS 8 or 10 char?
Hi,
I am extracting a date from a flat file and then passing it to an InfoObject with DATS type. I thought DATS has only 8 characters but when i look at target once data is loaded it seems to have 10 characters? Details of what happens to the data is below.
Source: 01/04/2013
PSA: 01/04/2013
Target: 20.4/.01/0
I am looking to use a formula to adjust the data in the transformation - but should i include the "." (dot) or not?

DSO Secondary Indexes on Active Tables created Directly in the Database
Hi All,
In the wake of the performance issues with few of our BO reports ( based on Bex Queries) in production system, we have identified the need in adding few more secondary indexes (in addition to existing ones) on the underlying DSOs.
However, these secondary indexes have been directly created/added to the DSO Active tables in the Database( ) by our DBA team.
There was a significant improvement in the BO reports and all performance issues have been sorted out. We knew this is just a temporary fix and eventually, these indexes must be created in the DSOs and transported all the way to prod.
Now the concerns are,
- If the additional indexes must be deleted by DB Admin before transporting the DSOs.
- Or will the transport simply overwrite all the DB indexes in prod and replace them with the indexes transported as part of the DSO.
- Will there be any conflict or transport failure in the prod env( as the transport attempts to create the indexes in the back end table and finds the same index already existing on the same table).
- Is there a standard way to deal this situation or is it as simple as transporting these DSOs by adding required new indexes?
Note: Our DBA team is speculating about deleting the indexes ( they are afraid as the deletion at table level may lead to inconsistencies to the entire DB or at least to those specific Active Tables)
Please let me know your thoughts.

DSO or Cube - Cube would contain all characteristic as "Line Item Dimension"
Hi,
I am aware that i should use DSO for line item data.
If however, I have a cube which is data a month level but the number/type of characteristics mean that each dimension would be a "line item" dimension (one characteristic in each dimension) and they do not have any master data I am better off having this data in a DSO or does it not really matter.

ALPHA Conversion
Hi All,
In my report Supplier invoice number is displaying as '000000000023912012312014' instead of displaying '23912012312014'.
1.Is there any possibility to make changes at Query level?
2.This is a Custom info object which don't have conversion routine.This info object is used in many DSO's,Cubes and Multiprovider.. If I change this Info object will the Data targets have any impact?
3.With changes in Info object conversions any Transformations will become inactive?
Please advise for the above issue.
