I have a BEx 7.0 query linked to a 3.5 Web template which works just fine. And now I have a requirement to create a new similar BEx query linked to a new 3.5 web template. I have done that but when I run this newly created web template the variable screen does not show up instead I see a web page filled with weird letters like the image attached here

The web item properties and everything else is just the same as the other copy of web template that I am referring except that my query name linked is different.
I cannot get my head around why this is happening. Any advise folks? Pleas help
